Job Summary & Scope:

  • The Pharmacy Technician will be accountable for a variety of pharmacy related duties based on the directions of pharmacists in accordance with the State of Qatar regulations.

  1. Help the pharmacist in dispensing and maintaining the records of dispensed drugs
  2. Follow policies and procedures of the department
  3. Pick up orders and process the order entry to update the patient profile to be checked and validated by the pharmacist
  4. Assist in ordering, receiving, unpacking and storing pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations
  5. Prepare intravenous admixtures according to preset guidelines for aseptic techniques
  6. Repackage medications according to the preset guidelines.
  7. Operate all equipment needed to perform the duties (e.g. Laminar flow hood, Omnicell®, Pneumatic tube, packaging machine)
  8. Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  9. Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members
  10. Assist the pharmacists with medication safety rounds
  11. Report medication errors and adverse drug reactions.
  12. Repackage medications according to the preset guidelines.
  13. Ensure correct labeling of drugs (e.g. High Alert, Look alike
  14. Participate in the quality improvement activities of the department
  15. Organize and prioritize work assignments
  16. Participate in the training of new technicians
  17. Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacist


  • diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Pharmacy Technician license in Qatar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.

Ms. Wazne received her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the Lebanese American University in 2011 . She completed her Masters degree in Clinical Pharmacy from the Lebanese University. Ms. Wazne has worked at the American University of Beirut Medical Center for more than ten years. Ms. Wazne has given a variety of oral presentations to nurses, and pharmacists on local and national level . She has been certified from Harvard Medical School in Immuno-oncology and Cancer Genomics. She is an active member in the Order of Pharmacists of Lebanon. Her professional interests include medication safety and research.

Scope of practice

Sirine Abou Al Hassan is a US. registered clinical dietitian with extensive experience in nutritional management of chronic and diet-related diseases. Previously, Sirine worked as clinical dietitian specialized in obesity weight management, Child and Maternal Health and Eating Disorders. She graduated from University College London with a masters of science in Clinical Nutrition and Eating Disorders; Following on from a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics-Coordinated Program from the American University of Beirut, both with distinction
