More than half of all headaches are either misdiagnosed or undiagnosed. Headaches often cause significant discomfort and severely affect the activities of daily living. Primary headaches refer to headaches with no identifiable cause. Some common forms of primary headaches are:

Migraine headache

Often sided and throbbing, this type of headache is variably associated nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light, noise and odors.

Tension headache

Tension headache is the most common type of headaches. It occurs on both sides of the head, often centered over the forehead or neck. Although the intensity of pain is typically less than that observed with migraine, it tends to occur more frequently.

Cluster headache
Cluster headaches are by far the most severe type of primary headache. It tends to be seasonal and occurs in clusters usually in the spring or fall. Clusters typically last a few weeks and resolve spontaneous. Headaches are strictly on one side of the head. Secondary headaches are related to another medical condition, such as:

I need directions to the unit, where do I park?

The Headache Unit in Aman Hospital is located at the following address: Ground Floor, Outpatient 2.

We recommend you allow enough time to park to ensure you arrive on time. Please plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment time. Our valet parking is here to assist you, take your car and park it safely in our underground parking.

Ms. Wazne received her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the Lebanese American University in 2011 . She completed her Masters degree in Clinical Pharmacy from the Lebanese University. Ms. Wazne has worked at the American University of Beirut Medical Center for more than ten years. Ms. Wazne has given a variety of oral presentations to nurses, and pharmacists on local and national level . She has been certified from Harvard Medical School in Immuno-oncology and Cancer Genomics. She is an active member in the Order of Pharmacists of Lebanon. Her professional interests include medication safety and research.

Scope of practice

Sirine Abou Al Hassan is a US. registered clinical dietitian with extensive experience in nutritional management of chronic and diet-related diseases. Previously, Sirine worked as clinical dietitian specialized in obesity weight management, Child and Maternal Health and Eating Disorders. She graduated from University College London with a masters of science in Clinical Nutrition and Eating Disorders; Following on from a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics-Coordinated Program from the American University of Beirut, both with distinction
