Job Summary & Scope:

Clinical Nurse Educator are registered nurses who meet the educational needs of the nurses in the hospital and serve a variety of functions in a hospital setting. They evaluate, suggest, create and incorporate both non-clinical and clinical programs that improve clinical practices for patients’ safety and well-being. They are responsible for, but not limited to: orientation of new nurses; development and management of mandatory education; clinical support and ongoing education of nurses; assessment of nurses using clinical competencies; identify and respond to the learning needs of individuals and the service; and evaluate the effectiveness within the hospital Nursing educators are also responsible for drafting a curriculum to satisfy education requirements for nursing personnel and function as sources of information for those around them.

Essential Job Functions & Key responsibilities:

  1. Provides educational leadership to nurses to enhance patient care within established clinical /policies, procedures, and guidelines/protocols.
  2. Assists nurses with educational needs, problem solving, and health management across the continuum of care.
  3. Collaborates with medical and nursing staff, and unit management in the planning, implementation, and delivery of educational curricula.
  4. Initiates clinical skills development programs within the parameters of established clinical and preceptorship models; monitors trends and implements educational strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards and parameters; promotes the principles of adult learning.
  5. Assists in the performance of all related nursing duties.
  6. Assists nurses with the development of critical thinking skills; provides support and education on developing a plan of care for patients, incorporating evidenced-based research and clinical practice standards; consults with and serves as a clinical resource for unit management to ensure quality patient care.
  7. Educates nurses in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments; coordinates in-service training and workshops for appropriate staff.
  8. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  9. Thorough knowledge and understanding of clinical protocol, procedures, and standards within area of nursing expertise.
  10. Ability to provide operational guidance and leadership to nurses in area of specialty.
  11. Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
  12. Ability to assess educational needs and design and develop responsibe curricula.
  13. Working knowledge of the use of established clinical and preceptorship models in the development of clinical education programs.
  14. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.

Knowledge & Qualifications:

Licensure:

QCHP licensing requirement – QCHP license as Registered Nurse

Education:

Bachelor degree in Nursing or Midwifery or relevant under graduate degree.

Experience:

Minimum six (6) years post graduate nursing experience; master’s degree in nursing, with a focus on education is preferred; supplemented with two (2) years of experience in clinical nursing/midwifery leadership and/or education is desired.

Knowledge:

Languages:

Fluent in English. Ability to speak in Arabic, Urdu, Hindi or Pashto languages are an advantage.

Ms. Wazne received her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the Lebanese American University in 2011 . She completed her Masters degree in Clinical Pharmacy from the Lebanese University. Ms. Wazne has worked at the American University of Beirut Medical Center for more than ten years. Ms. Wazne has given a variety of oral presentations to nurses, and pharmacists on local and national level . She has been certified from Harvard Medical School in Immuno-oncology and Cancer Genomics. She is an active member in the Order of Pharmacists of Lebanon. Her professional interests include medication safety and research.

Scope of practice

Sirine Abou Al Hassan is a US. registered clinical dietitian with extensive experience in nutritional management of chronic and diet-related diseases. Previously, Sirine worked as clinical dietitian specialized in obesity weight management, Child and Maternal Health and Eating Disorders. She graduated from University College London with a masters of science in Clinical Nutrition and Eating Disorders; Following on from a Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics-Coordinated Program from the American University of Beirut, both with distinction
